Pashmina Talk
SUHAIL COMES FROM Kashmir of India. He is 32-year-old but he has 15 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge for PASHMINA. As one of the many Kashmir family workshops, Suhail not only brings out PASHMINA shawl scarf crafts from his hometown, also he is working to bring more to the other countries. He tries to introduce to the world because of the treasure of ancient Indian royal. Suhail believes that everyone who knows how to love people are worth having PASHMINA.
But the worrying thing is taking place at the same time in Kashmir. In 1990s war-prone, young people make money in order to avoid war and to support parents and families. Elderly people left at home have to continue the ancient crafts – PASHMINA shawls and scarves, knitting and embroidery. As the young people no longer have the patience to do the repeat boring skills, these skills with the old people of Kashmir grew older, is gradually disappearing.
This time Suhail will introduce the true PASHMINA shawls and scarves from the Kashmir of India to the members, and it will bring the supreme glory to his traumatized hometown.

Years of Heavenly Lights Walk with Janny Chung
DURING THIS TOUR Janny Chung will lead us into Shanghai’s sometimes colorful, sometimes nightmarish past that’s hidden in the city’s small streets and historic old neighborhoods. We will start at the oldest Shanghai city corner and will explore an area known as the Family Qiao’s Road. It was the heart and soul of Shanghai, where temples for the Medicine God and the first local government were located. You will walk into the Heavenly Light Lane – the very first street where Shanghai installed public electric lights. Locals regarded the light as sent from the heaven that guided people safely home.
We will discover the Grey Gardens built in the 16th century. Also known as the Secluded Library, this vast mansion was surrounded by literary treasures and covered more than 2000 square meters and included over 70 rooms. Winda Lee, a gemologist and a jewelry designer, will tell us the buying guideline for diamond and fancy colored diamonds as well as how to differentiate fake and genuine diamonds. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about diamonds, as one says ‘the more you know, the better you buy”.

Wine Seminar: Spanish Wines
OUR SERIES of small intimate wine seminars - led by sommelier and highly trained wine speaker, Mathieu Liard - continues this month. This month we will focus on Spanish Wines!
Spending a warm summer night drinking wine and eating tapas in a square is one of the most typical pictures of life in Spain. Today, Spanish wine is highly valued among wine connoisseurs for its almost infinite variations and excellent quality. Best known are the quality reds from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, reds and whites from Penedés, fine whites from Rueda, sherries from Jerez, and a fine sparkling wine known as cava.
Mathieu will give us an overview of Spanish wine producing regions, explain the classification system, teach us how to read the label and how to choose a quality wine that suits both palate and purse. We will taste three wines, light refreshments will be provided.

THESE TWO well-known structures represent vastly different types of foreign influence upon the city of Shanghai. Today’s Jing’an Temple structure is new, however, there has been Buddhist religious activity in the area for almost 1000 years. Zhabei Park & Tea Wholesale Market
OUR GUIDE, Janny Chyn, will start our walk at the entrance of Zhabei Park (built in 1914). It is the only tea theme park in Shanghai. It is also a historical site with the tomb of Song Jiaoren, a Chinese republican revolutionary, political leader and a founder of the Kuomintang party.
In the park we will be among people participating in Tai Chi, ballroom dancing, calisthenics, and music performances. After our walk in the park, we will go to Daning International Tea City. This four-storey wholesale tea market targets area resellers. Here, the store manager will tell us about the products and provide tips in finding the best tea and tea wares.
